Footnotes:
1. The Clark County records are roughly alphabetized, but into "clumps" that are not alphabetical and not contiguous. In other words, not all the "D's" are together and there's no correlation between proximity on the list and proximity in the county. 2. The Edgar County images at Ancestry.com are too blurred to read. The pages at Genealogy.com are readable. 3. The Edgar County pages seem to be out of order, that is, there's no correspondence between the tallies on the name pages and the totals on the number pages, and because the page numbers are on the number pages, we don't really know the page numbers of the name pages. Please see my discussion of the problem of rebound census pages; I didn't realize this had happened to any 1840 censuses. |
Search Notes:
1. The Ebenezer DAVIS indexed in Edgar County is Ebenezer DAVID. 2. The Fredrick DAVIS indexed in Edgar County isn't there. 3. The second George DAVIS in Edgar County is George DESART. 4. The Robert DAVIS indexed in Edgar County is Robert FARRIS. 5. Finished search at Ancestry.com on DAVIS in Clark and Edgar Cos. 6. I did a page-by-page examination of the Edgar County pages at Genealogy.com in a search for Presley DAVIS, and did not find him. |

"The Cloud" is double-speak for "dumb terminal
on a main frame." Been there; done that. Never again.

The IT guys on the big iron hated the Personal Computer because it gave users freedom and power; now they've conned you into being back under their control. |
