1. Ancestry has mistaken the Military Districts (see Source below) for subdivisions (i.e., townships) of the counties, which they are not. In fact, they're just the opposite: the counties are subdivisions of the districts. The exception is that there is a Hillsborough in Orange County. 2. Ancestry has everyone in Pitt County indexed as being in Greenville, but only the last 2½ pages are demarcated on the census pages as "Greenville Town." None of the HOPKINS'es are in Greenville. |
