Daniel Boone DAVIS
Iantha Van Bibber ESTILL |
Husband: Daniel Boone DAVIS
Birth: 6 Feb 1821, Montgomery Co., MO Death: 28 Sep 1889, Montgomery Co., MO Disposition: buried Nettles Cemetery, near Mineola, Montgomery Co., MO Father: James DAVIS Mother: Jemima HAYS, granddaughter of Daniel BOONE |
Marriage: 15 Jul 1846, Lawrence Co., MO |
Wife: Iantha "Tantha / Pantha" Van Bibber ESTILL
Birth: 22 Sep 1826, Montgomery Co., MO Death: 16 Feb 1890, Montgomery Co., MO Disposition: buried Nettles Cemetery, near Mineola, Montgomery Co., MO Father: James ESTILL Mother: Mathilda VAN BIBBER, great-granddaughter of Daniel BOONE Some sources call her Tantha or Pantha, but as far as I know, there are no such given names. In her marriage record, she was recorded as "Iantha," which is a real name, so it's far more likely her given name was actually Iantha (county clerks typically being a good deal more educated than your average census enumerator). Iantha is an English variant of the Greek name, Ianthe — a nymph in Greek mythology. The name literally means, "violet flower," and is pronounced, ee-AN-thuh. Given the awkwardness of it, it may have evolved into Antha, Tantha, and/or Pantha, but I would consider these nicknames. |

Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
"The Cloud" is double-speak for "dumb terminal
