In the second column, it looks like the enumerator wrote a "2," then changed
it into a zero. It wouldn't be the other way around because to indicate
a zero the enumerator used a dash, not a zero.

If Basil is a widower at this point, where does the "Daugther B" come from
(see 1810). Was he married and widowed again between 1800 and 1810?

Basil (Bazzil) Carrio, the fifth son of
Peter
and Margaret (Gates) Carrico, was born about 1747 in Bryantown Hundred,
Charles County, Marlyand.147 He was married about 1768,
probably in Montgomery County, Maryland, but the most intensive research
has failed to disclose the name of his wife. He emigrated to Kentucky
between the years 1794 and 1806,148 as he disposed
of property in Washington County, Kentucky [sic
— Maryland], and is shown on tax rolls of Shelby County,
Kentucky, between these two dates. |
| p. 245 |
103The approximate year of James
Carrico's birth was estimated from that of Thomas Ignatius,
which was known to be in 1741 (see Thomas Ignatius Carrico, supra)
and from the assumption that Peter Carrico, Sr., followed the usual
colonial custom of naming issue in order of birth (see will of Peter
Carrico, sr., in Appendix). |
| p. 248 |
147Footnote 103, supra, explains
how the estimate of birth years of all four brothers are predicated upon
known birth year of Thomas Ignatius Carrico, the second son of Peter
and Margaret (Gates) Carrico. |
| 148Basil (Bazzil) Carrico executed
a bill of sale to Henry Shaver and executed a deed to Jacob Ramey
in Washington County, Maryland, that year. He was a resident of Shelby
County, Kentucky, in 1810. The census of that year shows him as the
head of a family of one male over 45, one male 10 to 16; two females 16
to 10; and one female under 10. Deeds recorded in Spencer County,
Kentucky, disclose that he deeded land to his son Thomas Ignatius
and later joined Thomas Ignatius and his wife, Julianna,
in deeding the property to his son-in-law, John O'Nan. |
