*Entries in the "Wheels of Carriages" column were either 2 or 4 and included a description, such as, "one Phaeton" (4 wheels) or "one Riding Chair" (2 wheels), and most of these were for transporting passengers, not goods. Surprisingly (to me), very few households had carriages and fewer still had "working" wagons. I guess if you have this many slaves, you don't need utility wagons. |
