Romeo Gillis, 97, died at 9:50 p.m. yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. B. Santelle of Toledo.  He was the father of Mrs. J. E. Jones of 617 North Main street and Frank R. Gillis of 696 Meadow street.  Other surviving children are Ralph C. Gillis of Dayton and Dr. J. N. Gillis of Toledo.

A native of Delaware County, Mr. Gillis was born Nov. 16, 1852.  He was the son of Jeremiah and Emily Bradley Gillis.  He was married to the former Miss Georgianna Harris on July 3, 1888 in Defiance.  She died Nov. 29, 1934 in Marion.

A retired cabinet maker, Mr. Gillis had resided with his daughter at Toledo for the last two years.  Prior to that he had lived in Marion and Dayton.  He was a member of the North Dayton Baptist Church and was a 50-year member of K. of P. Lodge No. 412 at Dayton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Schaffner-Denzer Funeral Home with Dr. J. B. Holloway, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will be made in Liberty Cemetery near Straford in Delaware County.  Friends may call after 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.
