3a. Census Index: U.S. Selected Counties, 1830 (Broderbund CD-315): Based on the birthplaces of the children, they should be in Tennessee. The CD shows eleven James WALLACEs in TN, in Anderson, Claiborne, Jackson, Rutherford, and Sumner Cos., but none in Stewart or Montgomery Cos. (see next source). 3b. 1830 Census Index and Digital Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #X of X; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen): According to their online index, there is a James WALLACE in Stewart Co., TN (p. 44), and one in Montgomery Co., TN (p. 59). One of these is almost certainly our James, but both of these census page images are missing from the online database (I have notified Ancestry.com of the problem as of 15 Oct 2001.)
4. 1840 Census Index (online at GenealogyLibrary.com). Based on the birthplaces of the children, they should be in Illinois.
5. 1850 Census Index/Microfilm (online at GenealogyLibrary.com): Morgan Co., IL, pp. 296B-297A, 1773/1815, enumerated 15 Oct 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
"The Cloud" is double-speak for "dumb terminal
