4.  1850 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #15 of 54):  Town Ontario, Wayne Co., NY, Roll M432_612, p. 109A, 111/111, enumerated 15 Aug 1850, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
Elisha M Wall 48 M   Farmer 3000 VT
Catharine " 50 F       NY
William   " 24 M   Carpenter   "
Lois      " 14 F       "
Ebinezer  " 12 M       "
Alonzo    " 10 M       "
Abram     "  3 M       "
Samuel    " 19 M   Labourer   "
I find it hard to believe Catharine bore a son at age 47, but if he weren't their son, he should have been listed after Samuel.  Is he adopted?  Samuel's being listed last and out of chronological order indicates he is not their son, which is supported by there being no son in this age class with them in the 1840 census.  One could interpret Samuel being listed last as him being Elisha's son from a former marriage, but we know William is such, and he was not listed after Catharine's children.

6.  1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #4 of 58 — our subject is indexed "Harkins"):  Webster P.O., Ontario Co., Wayne Co., NY, Roll M593_1112, p. 318B, PN 4, 25/25, enumerated 20 Jun 1870, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1870 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

"Louis" should be "Lois" — she's their married daughter, and Warren HASKINS/HOSKINS is their son-in-law.
