Some Miscellanous Data on
VAN OSTEN / OOSTEN / OSTRAND / OSTENSTRAND / &c.
This Dutch surname is rare in the United States.  I am gathering here some isolated data on the presumption that most or all of it will eventually apply to kin of Jden/Iden VAN OSTEN, who married Nettie Margaret STRAUB in Marion Co., OH, then moved to Oregon.

1850 Census Van Ostrand, John OH Marion Co. Byisland Twp. p. 36

"Byisland" is a misreading of "Big Island."  None found in Wyandot Co., OH.

The IT guys on the big iron hated the Personal Computer because it gave users freedom and power; now they've conned you into being back under their control.
