AGED PIONEER DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER
Royal Thomas Thompson, 96, who had lived in this community since 1885, or for about 63 years passed away Wednesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Alice Witt, 943 Third Street, from infirmities of old age.
Mr. Thompson was born in Modene County, Missouri, and came to California with his parents in 1863, crossing the plains by covered wagon as did other pioneer families.  The family settled in Sonoma County, and later came to Tulare County.  He was the brother of the late Milton Thompson.
Besides Mrs. Witt, five other children survive.  They are Frank Thompson, Hollywood; Lou Thompson, Camarillo, California; Cleve Thompson, Santa Paula: Thurm Thompson, Los Angeles; and Mrs. Zella Hewett, Fresno.  He also leaves 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, at 9:30 at the Myers Chapel with interment in the Porterville Cemetery.
