Robert Thompson = our subject.
Robert Thompson deceased = subject's deceased father.
John Thompson = subject's deceased brother; father of the two nephews.
Robert N. Thompson = subject's nephew; grandson of the deceased.
Alexander Thompson = subject's nephew; grandson of the deceased.
William McDOWELL is our subject's brother-in-law, wife of Robert's sister, Agnes.  What's odd is that only two of Robert Sr.'s children seem to be alive to inherit.
