p. 262 This Indenture made this 15th day of May 1838 between George Hicks of the County of Todd and State of Kentucky of the one part and the heirs of Mathew Thompson (Court[?]) Lucy A. Thompson, Mary E. Thompson, Martha F. Thompson, George R. Thompson and any future heirs that the said Thompson may have of the other part of the County and State aforesaid Witnesseth that the said George Hicks for an in consideration of the natural love and affection he bares to the above heirs of the said Thompson and for the consideration of the sum of one dollars to him in hand paid the reciept whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold and conveyed unto the above named heirs of the said Thompson the following property two bedsteads and furniture one Beauro one cupboard and one small table.  To have and to hold the said property for their special use and benefit unto the said heirs forever and the said George Hicks hereby covenants to and with the said Heirs that the said property with all its appurtenances unto the said heirs and assigns from the claim of himself and his heirs and from the

It's odd that he used the term "heirs," instead of "children," given that Matthew was still alive — and odder, still, that he doesn't mention his daughter, Jane, wife of Matthew THOMPSON, who also was still alive.
