Said to have died in Fulton Co., OH, but Gardner was living in Henry Co., OH, in the 1870 Census.  Although two of his children were in Fulton Co., OH, in the 1880 census, his widow was in Wood Co., OH, in 1880; Leah did not appear in the Fulton Co., OH, census until 1910.

2.  1850 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #32 of 44):  Perrysburg Twp., Wood Co., OH, p. 119B, 212/218, enumerated 1 Aug 1850, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

Palmer    " 22 M   Farmer   "
Nathan    " 11 F       Ohio
Lean/Lear " 17 F       "
Stephen   "  1 M       "
"E." (Ezekiel) & Mercy are Gardner's parents.  Palmer is Gardner's brother, and Nathan is probably Gardner's nephew.

3.  1860 Census Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #11 of 17):  Scotch Ridge P.O., Webster Twp., Wood Co., OH, p. 449A, PN 232, 1676/1643, enumerated 19 Jul 1860, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1860 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

Mary  9 F         "
Mercy  6 F         "

Susan  1 F         "
The name of the third daughter is not really readable.  Gardner is said to have had a daughter, Anastasia, so that must be the name the enumerator couldn't deal with (over and above the problem of his atrocious handwriting).  Listed three households from Gardner's brother, William TEFT.

4.  1870 Census Images (online at Genealogy.com; Image #27 of 29):  Napoleon P.O., Washington Twp., Henry Co., OH, Roll 1221 (Book 1), p. 425A, PN 27, 205/195, enumerated 14 Aug 1870, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1870 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
