Michael STROUP
Ms. __?__
Elizabeth STUDEBAKER
Please Note:  Most Americans surnamed STROUP have had their surname Anglicized from German STRAUB, which originates primarily in southern Germany, Switzerland, and Alsace (an ethnic German enclave in France).  While STROUP, itself, is decidedly rare in Europe, it does occur in France, including Alsace.  On the other hand, STROOP is a Dutch spelling, overwhelmingly found in the Netherlands and Westphalia, virtually not at all in France.  So, while we don't know if Michael's surname was originally STRAUB or STROUP, it's very unlikely it was STROOP.  It was, in fact, the children who shifted the spelling to STROOP, and they did so as adults, later in life — they all started out STROUP.  I've found no evidence that the immigrant, our subject, was ever referred to as STROOP.
Husband:  Michael STRAUB? / STROUP
Birth:  1780s — of Alsace
Death apparently:  1840s, Miami Co., IN

Please note that while we have good evidence that son Michael was born in Alsace, we have no direct evidence as to the birthdate or birth place of his father, our subject.  I do believe our subject is the Michael STROUP in the 1840 census of Hagerstown, MD (see below), which places his birth at an entirely logical 1780-1790.

Marriage-1:  by 1815
Migration apparently:  1830-32
Wife-1:  Ms. __?__
Birth:  1790s
Death:  1732-37
Marriage-2:  9 Oct 1837, Montgomery Co., OH
Wife-2:  Elizabeth STUDEBAKER
Birth:  1 Jul 1798, OH
Death:  11 Aug 1865, Elkhart Co., IN
Other Spouse:  m1. 5 Oct 1815, Montgomery Co., OH, Jacob WISSINGER
Children with Wife-1:
— born in Alsace:
1.  Michael STROUP / STROOP (Jr.), b. 7 Jan 1816

— born in Switzerland:
2.  Jacob STROUP / STROOP, b. 1825/6

— born in [Hagerstown?, Washington Co.?] MD:
3.  Mary STROUP, b. 30 Jun 1832

Alsace shares its northern and eastern borders with Germany, but its southern border with Switzerland, so it's easily possible for Michael to have been born in Alsace and Jacob in Switzerland.

Children with Elizabeth STUDEBAKER:
— born in Dayton, Montgomery Co., OH:
4.  Moses S. STROUP / STROOP, b. 1839/40

— born in Miami Co., IN:
5.  Lavinia?/Louisa? STROUP, b. 1841/2
6.  Noah STROUP, b. 1842/3

Mary is Michael's daughter by his first wife.  Moses, Lavina, and Noah are Michael's children with Eliza.  Isaac is 25, not 35.  Isaac and Aaron are Eliza's sons from her prior marriage to Jacob WISSINGER.  By the end of the year, Isaac WISSINGER married his stepsister, Mary STROUP.
