David STROUP
Esther Ann MELLICK
Husband:  David STROUP/STRAUB
Birth:  18 Jul 1809, of Hemlock Twp., Columbia Co., PA
Death:  18 Aug 1884

Secondary sources give his death year as 1844, but this has to be a typo for 1884.

Marriage:  28 Jan 1840
Wife:  Esther Ann MELLICK
Birth:  6 Jun 1817, of Mount Pleasant Twp., Columbia Co., PA
Father:  John MELICK (1788-1847)
Mother:  Sarah CONNER  (1791-1843)
Adopted Child? :
1.  Ann/Anna "Annie" STROUP, b. 1864/5

Annie is probably Hester [Ann] MOSTETTER.

Are these our subjects?  Did Esther have a previous spouse?  Or is this just a bad rendering of MELICK?  Newspapers are notoriously inaccurate.
