Jacob is said to be in Louisiana by 1800, but the marriage of a daughter in Mississipi in 1805 suggests the move to Louisiana came later.

3.  1790 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  not found, but the entire 1790 Virginia census was destroyed.  Kentucky was not formed from Virginia until 1792.

4.  Anon.  1991.  The 1795 Census of Kentucky [as constructed from tax lists].  T.L.C. Genealogy, Miami Beach, FL (said to include every extant tax list from every county existing in the state of Kentucky in 1795):  the only variant of STRUB/STROOP/etc. on this list is a Henry STROOPS in Jefferson County.

5.  1800 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  not found, but the entire 1800 Virginia and Kentucky censuses were destroyed.  There were no censuses in Mississippi or Louisiana. 

6.  1810 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  not found, but I did find his children in Ouachita Parish, LA (q.v.).
