As many times as I've seen Stroup mis-read as Strong, this is the first time I've seen Strong mis-read as Stroup! Unless, of course, there really was a George O. STROUP who patented the land in St. Croix County, then sold it and left the county before the 1860 census. I wish the BLM database were still online because it included digital images of the original certificates, so I would be able to check the spelling on the certificate. |
