Paul W. Straub, 72, of Dothan, Ala., died Oct. 13 after an extended illness.  Born in Kissimmee to a pioneer Osceola County cattle family, he attended Stetson University in Deland and was a graduate of the State Forest Ranger School in Lake City.  He was land manager for 10 years for Gibson Paperwood Canal Timber Corp., owned by Sen. Pete Gibson, in Perry. He moved to Dolthan in 1962 and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance for 15 years, and worked with the Houston County Sheriff's Department for 15 years.  He was a member of the Osceola County and Desota County Florida Cattlemen Association, the Arcadia Riding Club, Silver Spurs Riding Club in Kissimmee, and was a senior member of Silver Spurs Quadrille.  He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a life member of the DAV and life member of the Dolthan Elks Lodge.  Survivors include his wife, Jeannine Ledbetter Straub; daughters, Rita Kay Powers, both of Dothan, Paula Deese, Ashford, Ala.; sister, Betty Norwine, Sarasota; brothers, Norman Straub, Tallahassee, Gary Straub, Dothan; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Mass of Christian burial was held Oct. 16 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Paul Gins officiating.  Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.  Grissom Funeral Home, Kissimmee, was in charge of arrangements.
