Franz Anton STRAUB
Ms. __?__
NOTICE:  We know that there is at least one male STRAUB living in Germany who is believed to connect to this family.  If we are to confirm the connection, we need him and a male STRAUB in the U.S., one who is patrilineal descendant of our subject, to be Y-DNA tested.

An American descendant of the family is said to have visited the family home in Immenmühle ca. 1997.  The question is, was this visitor a male surnamed STRAUB?  If so, there is still some prospect of finding him or some other related STRAUB in the U.S.  If not, it leaves open the possibility that we may not find a living male STRAUB in the U.S. and that this branch of the family is extinct, at least with regard to those bearing the surname.  My inability to find our subject's sons in more than one record, each, if even that, is not encouraging.

Husband:  Franz Anton / Franciscus Antonius STRAUB
Birth:  bef. 1790, of Immenmühle, Opfenbach, Niederstaufen, Schwabia, Bavaria
Marriage:
Wife:  Ms. __?__
Children — born in Bavaria:
Our subject is said to have had 19 children.  If so, he almost certainly had more than one wife (or several sets of twins).

1.  Katharina STRAUB, b. 22 Mar 1814; believed to have died on the crossing
2.  Chrysostomus STRAUB, b. 12 Oct 1816 — is he the "Chrisastimis" STRAUB who married in KY in 1855?
3.  Maria Josefa STRAUB, b. 30 Oct 1818
4.  (Child) STRAUB, b. ca. 1820
5.  Anna Maria STRAUB, b. 5 Nov 1822; believed to have died of cholera in the U.S. ca. 1849
6.  Maria Paulina STRAUB, b. 28 Jan 1824
7.  (Child) STRAUB, b. ca. 1826
8.  (Child) STRAUB, b. ca. 1828
9.  Gebhard STRAUB, b. 29 Apr 1830 — is he the "Gapert/Gessert" STRAUB in CA in the 1860 census?
...

The six named children are said to have emigrated to the U.S. in 1849 on a ship disembarking from Bremen, after having walked there from Immenmühle.
Gebhard is believed to have been in San Francisco in 1869.
