3.  1820 Census Index and Digital Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #6 of 12; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
1820 PA Berks Co. Cumru Twp. p. 8 Ln. 5 Christian Stroup 200100-00101-0-100
These data indicate:¤•
No. & Sex  Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
2 male 9 or under 1810-1820 = George (b. 1819/20)
= Son A
1 male 19-25* 1794-1801 = Christian (b. 1791-95)
1 female 16-25 1794-1804 = Mary (b. 1800/1)
1 female 45 or over in or bef. 1775 = Mary's mother?
*In the 1820 Census, the third column is age class 16-18 and the fourth column is age class 16-25; therefore, any individual in column three is duplicated in column four.  By subtracting the number in column three from the number in column four, you can create an age class "19-25."
Christian's mother wasn't widowed until 1824/5.

3.  1830 Census Index and Digital Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #9 of 32; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
1830 PA Berks Co. Cumru Twp. p. 483 Ln. 27 Christian 200 001 - 001 010
These data indicate:¤•
No. & Sex  Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
2 males 4 or under 1825-1830 = Abraham (b. 1830/31 or 1832/3)
= Peter (b. 1828/9)
1 male 30-39 1790-1800 = Christian (b. 1791-95)
1 female 10-14 1815-1820 = Daughter A?
1 female 20-29 1800-1810 = Mary (b. 1800/)
The "daughter" did not appear in the 1820 Census, so either the census-taker in 1820 made a mistake or this girl is not their daughter.  George is absent from the household at only age 11/12.  Either that or it is more census-taker error.  Abraham may not have been born until 1831, so this male may not be Abraham.  Need the 1840 data to find out.

4.  1840 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  can't find.

It appears our subjects were enumerated twice in the 1850 Census, only a month apart.  Did they move?  Did they own property in both places?  Did the two enumerators accidentally overlap their territories?  Surely there could not be two families so much alike!

5a.  1850 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #62 of 73):  Spruce Ward, Reading, Berks Co., PA, p. 362B, 528/505, enumerated 10 Aug 1850, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤
Christian Stroup 50 M Miller Cumru Berks Cty
Mary Stroup 45 F   do
George Stroup 30 M Miller do
Abraham Stroup 19 M Laborer do
I'll bet the wife was the informant.  The census-taker gave precise birth locations for everyone — and don't we wish all census-takers did so!  Listed two households from David ELY.

5b.  1850 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #16 of 92):  Cumru Township, Berks Co., PA, p. 338B, 114/120, enumerated 12 Sep 1850, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):¤
Christian Straub 55 m Miller Penna
Anna Straub 50 f   "
George Straub 30 m none "
Peter Straub 21 m none "
Abraham Straub 17 m none "
Rose Straub  5 f   "
Ellen Straub  4 f   "
Given Anna's age, it's unlikely that Rose and Ellen are her children.  Then again, some women do have, "change-of-life" babies, much to their surprise.
