Mother:  Hannah JONES

Wife-1:  Mary __?__
Birth:  1815/6, VT
Death:  1850-60

Birth:  1812/3 or 1819/20, PA
Death:  aft. 1860
Other Spouse:  m1. Jesse Sheldon SITLER
Children with Mary — born in PA:
1.  William H. SIAS, b. 1839/40
2.  Julianne SIAS, b. 1842/3
Child with Melissa THATCHER — born in VA [now WV]:
3.  James T. SIAS, b. 1860, VA

Note:  Although there are some descrepancies regarding Lovell's birth date and place in the two census records, given the rarity of the name and the proximity of the two counties (just across the state line from each other), it seems virtually certain that we are dealing with only one Lovell SIAS.  And if they aren't the same man, we have to account for the fact that the one in Marshall Co. appeared in no other, earlier censuses.

"Sevil" is an obvious misreading of "Lovel."

Lovel's age is more likely correct in the 1850 census as he may have shaved a few years off his age during his courtship of the younger Melissa.  On the other hand, Melissa gave her age as 37 in the 1850 census, so she may have shaved off a few years, too.  And if he is, as he is said to be, the son of Nathaniel & Hannah (JONES) SIAS, then he has to have been born in Vermont, not Virginia.  It is obviously a second marriage for Melissa, too, with the SITLER children being by her first husband.
