Archelaus SIAS
Melissa __?__
Husband:  Archelaus SIAS
Birth:  1806/7 or 7 Oct 1808, VT (probably Derby, Orleans Co.)
Father:  Charles SIAS, Jr.
Mother:  Elizabeth "Betsy" GLINES
Marriage:
Wife:  Melissa __?__
Children:
1.  Martha SIAS, b. 1844/5, Orleans Co., VT

Sources:

1.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1840 (Broderbund CD-316): not found.

2.  1850 Census Index/Microfilm (online at GenealogyLibrary.com):  Newport, Orleans Co., VT, p. 134A, 90/90, enumerated 29 July 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
Archelaus Sias 43 M Farmer 400 Vt
Malissa 43 F     ?
Martha  5 F     Vt
Geo Knox 16 M     ?
It's unusual for a couple in their 40s to have only one child, age 5, though there are plausible explanations.  The fact that Archelaus does not appear in any earlier censuses suggests he did not marry until after 1840.

3.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1860 (Broderbund CD-318):
1860 Lias, Archelan VT Orleans Co. Newport p. 1091
In old-style handwriting, it is easy to misread "S" and "L," and many SIASes in this index were misread as LIAS.

4.  LDS.  Family Search: Internet Genealogy Service: International Genealogical Index (IGI).

"The Cloud" is double-speak for "dumb terminal on a main frame." Been there; done that. Never again.

The IT guys on the big iron hated the Personal Computer because it gave users freedom and power; now they've conned you into being back under their control.
