William SEVERS
Ms. __?__ Catherine PECK |
WARNING: this family group sheet is very shakely. There is little documentation supporting it. |
Husband: William SEVERS / SEAVERS / SEAVER
Birth: 1752/3 or, more likely, 1760-70, VA Death: 25 Aug 1852, MO — presumably in Nodoway Co., MO Occupation: farmer William is said to be Johann Wilhelm SIEBERT, b. 9 Feb 1750/1 in Metzebach, Hesse, Germany, but the one census records argue against both the birthdate and birthplace. If anyone has the evidence supporting that the two are the same man, please share. |
Marriage-1: 1770s/80s |
Wife-1: Ms. __?__
There is no proof William had an earlier wife, but neither is there proof that he didn't, and a first marriage over the age of 40 is almost unheard of. |
Marriage-2: 14 Oct 1793, Montgomery Co., VA |
Wife-2: Catherine PECK
Birth: ca. 1774 Death: aft. 1830 Father: George PECK Mother: Catharine KOEHLER |
Children with Wife-1: |

1. Marriage Records: 2. 1790 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): not found, but the 1790 Virginia census was lost and Tennessee did not become a state until 1792. 3. 1800 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): not found, but the 1800 Virginia and Tennessee censuses were lost. There is a William SEIBERT in Somerset Co., PA, but our subjects were at least in Virginia, if not Tennessee, by 1800. 4. 1810 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): not found, but the 1810 Tennessee census was lost, unless he's the William SEVERS in Mercer Co., KY. 5. 1820 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): not found, but the censuses of 22 of Tennessee's 48 counties were lost. (The William SEVER in Georgia is much too young to be our subject.) 6. 1830 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #12 of 55; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
7. 1840 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com): not found, but the index for Tennessee is very incomplete. I did a page-by-page search of Anderson Co., TN, and while there were many SIEBERs, I did not find William, but parts of some pages are torn away. William Jr. is in Newton Co., MO. 8. 1850 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #17 of 49): District No. 64, Nodaway Co., MO, Roll M432_408, p. 379A, 110/112, enumerated 30 Oct 185v, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1850 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
