Source (n.b., Pickaway Co. was
formed in 1810 — after the 1810 census — from portions of Ross, Fairfield,
Hocking, and Franklin Cos.; the boundaries of Pickaway Co. did not change
once it was initially formed):
1a. Jordan R. Dodd, ed. 1993. KY, NC, TN, VA, WV Marriages: Early to 1850. Liahona Research, Orem, UT (Broderbund CD-229): not found. 1b. LDS. Family Search: Internet Genealogy Service: IGI - International Genealogical Index (online at FamilySearch.org).
2. Census Index: U.S. Selected Counties, 1810 (Broderbund CD-313): the 1810 Ohio census was lost (except for Washington Co.); tax lists for some Ohio counties are substituted on the CD. There are no records on the CD for Pickaway Co., which was formed from parts of Ross, Franklin, Fairfield, and Hocking Cos. in 1810, after the 1810 census. The LDS Library Catalog has film of the tax rolls of Pickaway Co. only back as far as 1816, which suggests the earlier lists have been lost, although sometimes taxes are paid to an adjacent, established county until the new county can get it's civil government functioning. If so, then out subject probably is not one of the two John PETERS in Ross Co. in 1810, but which would then mean we have three John PETERS to account for.
