1.  Henrietta PERSON, b. 1855/6, KS — possibly in Cherokee Co., KS
Keywords for search engines:  genealogy; USA, US, United Staes, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee

Sources (n.b., Newton Co., MO, is just over the state line from Cherokee Co., KS, so it is not that odd that Henrietta might have been born in KS):

1a.  Jordan R. Dodd, ed.  1998.  Marriage Index: Missouri, 1851-1900.  Liahona Research, Orem, UT (Broderbund CD-234):  not found.

1b.  D.L. Murray & N.R. Murray.  1995.  Marriage Index:  AR, MO, MS, TX, 1766-1981 (Broderbund CD-5):  not found.

2.  1850 Census Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  John is living with his widowed father in Van Buren Twp., Newton Co., MO.

3.  1860 Census Index/Images (online at Genealogy.com, Image #8 of 10):  Enterprize P.O., Elk River Twp., McDonald Co., IL, Roll 633 (Book 1), p. 88, PN 88, 604/604, enumerated 18 Jul 1860, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1860 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):
J R Person 23 M         MO
Matilda 23 F   Farm hand   25 TN
Henrietta  4 F         MO
There had to have been a vertical "frame shift" here, that is, the enumerator got his field notes out of alignment when he was filling in the form (n.b., the population schedules were not filled out in the field, but later, usually in the county court house, based on notes taken in the field, with the obvious potential for mistakes being made in data entry).  We know from other sources that John was born in TN, Matilda was born in MO, and Henrietta was born in KS — and surely "Farm Hand" referred to John, not Matilda.

4.  1870 Census Index/Images (online at Genealogy.com, Image #7 of 28 — indexed "Berry Stief"; online at Ancestry.com, Image #7 of 28 — indexed "Perry Stiep"):  Forsyth P.O., Whitmore Twp., Macon Co., IL, Roll 249 (Book 1), p. 630A, PN  7, 47/47, enumerated 21 Jul 1870, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1870 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen).  This record was very hard to read, partly due to poor handwriting and party due to poor imaging.

"The Cloud" is double-speak for "dumb terminal on a main frame." Been there; done that. Never again.
