The above record is presumed by some to be that of the John MOREHART who married Mary ALSPACH, but typically, an individual baptized Johan Michel would have gone by Michael.  When "John" is the saint's name (the first given name in German naming practice), it is usually spelled Johan or Johann (or Hans), not Johannes.  There is also another Johannes [John] MOREHART, who married Anna Maria SIGLIN, and I see no way, so far, to be certain he isn't this son of Jacob.  Or is this one John MOREHART with two different wives?
