A thirty-year span of fecundity (1785-1815) for a woman is extraordinary, and pretty much biologically impossible, even if the bride married young.  So, were the last three children really hers?  Temperance outlived her husband, so it is not the case that he remarried to a younger woman.

1.  Harry Wright Newman.  1938.  Maryland Revolutionary Records.  Baltimore, MD (online at Ancestry.com).  The way Ancestry.com presents the records, you really can't quote them (because they've turned the information from the book into an online database, instead of simply putting the book's pages online).  There are three mentions of Joshua MARSH in the online database, one an application for a pension by his widow indicating he was a Captain in the Militia, another simply indicating he was a "Maryland Patriot," and another indicating Joshua's wife was Temperance and that they were married on 11 Dec 1785 in Baltimore Co., MD.

MARSH STEPHEN, b. to Joshua and Temperance, 2/2/1787
MARSH REBECCA, b. to Joshua and Temperance, 10/4/1789
MARSH ELIJAH, b. to Joshua and Temperance, 10/4/1790
MARSH GRAFTON, b. to Joshua and Temperance, 6/13/1792
MARSH JOSIAH, b. to Joshua and Temperance, 6/15/1797
MARSH ELLEN, b. to Joshua and Temperance, 8/17/1799
MARSH JOSHUA, b. to Joshua and Temperance, 7/8/1801
MARSH BEALE, b. to Joshua and Temperance, 8/16/1803
MARSH NELSON, b. to Joshua and Temperance, 3/24/1806
MARSH NELSON, bapt. Oct. 1808
The odds against two children being born on the same day, just one year apart, are astronomical.  So, has a transcription error been made here?  Were Rebecca and Elijah really twins, born in 1789 or in 1790?
