DAVID LYONS, an old and highly respected resident of this city died at the family residence, No. 20 Eighth street, Saturday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock. The deceased was born in Tioga County, New York, December 24, 1809 and came west with his family in 1842 and located in McHenry county, Ill., remaining there during the winter and in the spring of 1843, came to Fond du Lac.  It is said that he was the first man to locate on the ledge in the town of Empire.  He lived there until fourteen years ago when he went to Jackson, Tenn., where he resided ten years, after which he returned to this city and moved in to the home in which he died.  The deceased was married Sept. 1, 1831, to Miss Sarah HANNA who is now left to survive him.  He is also survived by the following children, Mrs. D. C. WHITE, and Alanson P., of this city; William T., of Nebraska; and Ransom E., of Bruce, Wis.  He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and thirty-nine great grandchildren, and on great great grandchild.  The funeral will be held from the residence Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. H. W. Thompson officiating.  Interment will be at the Empire. Friends will please omit flowers.
