RUTH M. LENKER

Ruth M. Straub Lenker, 83, of Elizabethtown and formerly of Grantville and Hershey, passed away Friday, May 30, 2003, in the Masonic Home in Elizabethtown.

Born in Derry Township on April 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Harry J. and Sarah Snavely Straub.  She retired from the Nationwide Insurance Company.  She was a graduate of the former Swatara Township High School.  She was a member of the East Hanover Church of God.  She enjoyed reading, cross stitching and doing New York Times crossword puzzles; and was an avid Phillies baseball fan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland H. Lenker, on April 4, 1983.
She is survived by one son... of Hummelstown; one daughter... of Palmyra; three sisters, Pauline Gassert, Lillian “Dolly” Gibson wife of Lester Gibson, and Edie Fisher all of Pine Grove; one brother, Joseph Hawk of Hershey; four grandchildren... and five great-grandchildren...

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Straub, and a sister, Helen Keesey

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 6, 2003 at 11 AM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc. 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown with The Rev. Richard R. Hanshaw, Jr., officiating.  Interment will be in the Shoop’s Cemetery, Lower Paxton Township.  Friends are invited to call Friday in the funeral home from 9:30 AM until time of the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Hanover Church of God, c/o Merlin Rhoad, 10507 Mountain Road, Grantville, PA 17028 or to the Masonic Homes, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.

Ruth's relationship to her "siblings" has not been documented, but is not doubted by the family; however, those relationships are definitely in need of documentation.  Joseph HAWK is, at most, Ruth's half-brother — son of Sarah (SNAVELY) HAWK STRAUB and her first huband, Wilbert HAWK.  Edith "Edie" (REED) FISHER and Helen (REED) KEESEY are Ruth's step-sisters — daughters of Mrs. Helen (MEASE) REED, second wife of Harry Jacob STRAUB.
