C. THE EMBARKATION LISTS FROM HOLLAND

These lists comprise the enumeration of five separate sailings of Palatines from Holland....  So far as possible the enumerations have been retained in exactly the form in which the Dutchmen made them... "vrouw" means wife...

E. THE NEW YORK SUBSISTENCE LIST

This list was compiled from the "journal" of Palatine debtors to the British government for subsistence given either in New York City or in the Hudson River settlement, from their landing in 1710 to September, 1712...

[Of up to six possible sets of numbers, only two sets, the first and the last, are given here, which typically means the first set is from a 1710 list while the second set is from a 1712 list.  Within the pair of numbers, the first number is the number of adults, the second number is the number of children, with children over ten years of age counted as adults.]

The fact that someone sails from a Dutch port (probably Rotterdam) does not necessarily mean they were Dutch.  The 1710 reading from the subsistence list appears to be a mis-reading because the numbers from the 1712 list make sense, that is, that "6-0" represents a married couple with four children over ten years of age.  If the first set of numbers is not a mis-reading, we need to rethink what this record means… (It could be as simple as Jacob having left his wife and children in New York City during the first winter at the camp.)

Haysbury was one of the original Palatine settlements on the east bank of the Hudson River, in Dutchess Co., NY, collectively know as "East Camp" (as opposed to the settlements on the west bank of the river collectively known as "West Camp," in Ulster Co., NY).
