Alexander Brown, Jr. and Lucy Hoard, his wife, and two children, came to Fluvanna between Dec. 25, 1825 and October 1827....  
p. 46 ...     Samuel Hoard, a brother of Lucy Hoard Brown, built a log house just east of the Bentley homestead.  He sold it to William Acocks in 1831.  He moved to Clear Creek, Pa.
p. 46      Samuel Hoard, father of Mrs. Lucy Brown, was also an early resident of the Townline road.  He lived in a log house on property now owned by Charles Phillips.  The house stood near where the old "creamery" was built in 1880 or 1881.  Mr. Hoard was buried in the Fluvanna Cemetery.
