This is not a film of the original permission slips themselves, which are loose sheets of paper. This film is of a typed transcription by Cordelia C. Gary. In this case, James M. THOMPSON gave permission for an underage Sarah to marry; he is most likely her father, but could be her uncle or older brother, etc.

Comment:
A. The discrepancies between these dates have no logical explanation. Surely some of the above dates must have been transcribed incorrectly, so the original records need to be consulted. The Christian County Genealogical Society in Hopkinsville, KY, can be contacted to see if they have the original permission slip and the original bond (they do for some early marriages). These are separate, loose pieces of paper, as opposed to the county clerk's marriage books. (If you are unfamiliar with the different types of 19th-century marriage records, please see my description of them.) |

On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
