Lemuel GLASGOW
Alsey MILES
WARNING:  I have not sorted out this family, and I'm not going to spend the time to do so because I'm not related to them.  My only concern is that their alleged daughter, Elizabeth (b. 1804/5, NC), who married William DAVIS and lived in Randolph Co., North Carolina, is being mixed up with the Elizabeth GLASGOW (b, 1800, SC) who married William CHAPPELL and lived in Randolph Co., Illinois.  These are two different places and two different women.
Husband:  Lemuel GLASGOW
Birth:  1748/9, Currituck Co, NC
Death:  23 Feb 1844, Randolph Co., NC
Military Service:  Revolutionary War:  Pvt., North Carolina Continental Line

Some say his parents are:
Father:  Caleb GLASGOW (1725-1808) — said to have had a son, Caleb GLASGOW
Mother:  Ruth GREGORY (1730-1793)

Marriage:  1778, Pasquotank Co., NC
Wife:  Alsey / Alsay MILES
Birth:  1750-55, Pasquotank Co., NC
Death:  20 Jan 1850, Randolph Co., NC
Children — born in Randolph Co., NC:
Secondary sources are in such disagreement as to the identities of their children, I'm not even going to try to compile a list with names, except for the following...

In the 1840 census, Lemuel & Alsey are living with this GLASGOW, who is presumably their son:
.  Miles GLASGOW, b. 1780-90

A court document says Alsey had a total of eight children, only three of whom were living at the time of her death:
.  Nancy GLASGOW
.  Martha GLASGOW
.  Fereeba GLASGOW

Our subjects are supposedly the parents of an Elizabeth GLASGOW, but it doesn't appear to be this one because she is still alive in the 1850 census:
Elizabeth GLASGOW, b. 1804/5, NC; m. 1833, Randolph Co., NC, William DAVIS

1790 NC Pasquotank Co. Roll M637_7 p. 241 Ln. 36 Lemuel Glaƒsgow 1-1-2-0-0
These data indicate:

1 free white males 15 or under 1774-1790 = Son A
2 free white females all ages in or bef. 1790 = Alsey (b. 1750-55)
= Daughter A
Listed next to a Caleb GLASCOW, who is the only other GLASGOW/etc. in the county.

1 female 45 or over in or bef. 1755 = Alsey (b. 1750-55)
Where did the older children come from?  They weren't with them in the 1790 census.  Usually, a jump like this is due to the first wife having died and the second wife being a widow-woman with children of her own, brought from her first marriage into the household.  Are we certain Alsey was Lemuel's first wife?  In any case, they are not Lemuel's children, so we need not be concerned with them when compiling his family group sheet.  The only other GLASGOW/etc. household in the county is Caleb GLASGOW (mis-indexed "Cabb Glasgow").
