It would be extraordinary for one woman to have birthed children over a span of 30 years (i.e., 1761 to ca. 1791) because the normal maximum span of fecundity for a woman is 23 years (i.e., age 20 to 43), so there is no disputing that John had at least two wives.  The question is, did he have a third wife?  The question is raised because there's a 13-year gap between the first two children and an 11-year gap between the last two children — all assuming, of course, that we have a complete list of the children and that the estimate of their birthyears are reasonably accurate, possibly not a safe assumption.  The crucial missing bit of information here is the marriage record of John and Jaile.  Until that record is found, I'm not convinced we know the identity of the mother of the middle children.
