(George) Adam CUPP
Ms. __?__ Elizabeth ARNOLD |
NOTE: The children's names and ages vary wildly from census to census, so I'm perplexed how to arrange them. It's going to take more than the censuses to straighten them out, so consider the arrangement highly tentative. |
Husband: (George) Adam CUPP / KOPP
Birth: 4 Mar 1797 or 1800-1810, PA Death: 6 Mar 1890, presumably in York Co., PA Disposition: buried Evangelical Cemetery, Chanceford Twp., York Co., PA Occupation: laborer, farmer Given the fact that Adam's birthyear is different in nearly every record given for him, it appears he may not have known the exact year he was born, which was not that unusual for the time. Either that or we have a case of age inflation, pushing his birthyear back to 1797 on his tombstone. A birthyear of 1800 is more likely (see 1830 and 1840 censuses). |
Marriage-1: |
Wife-1: Ms. __?__
Birth: 1800-1810 Death: 1839/40, presumably York Co., PA |
Marriage-2: said to be Jun 1825, but cannot be unless the 1840 census, showing Adam to be a widower, is in error. |
Wife: Elizabeth ARNOLD — may not be her maiden name
Birth: 23 May 1801, PA Death: 14 May 1875, presumably York Co., PA Other Spouses: may have had an earlier spouse surnamed ARNOLD Occupation: homemaker |

. Margaret CUPP, b. 1828/9 . Annie CUPP, b. 1830-35 . John W. CUPP, b. 1831/2 or 1835/6 . Jacob W. CUPP, b. 1834/5 or 19 Aug 1836; d. 25 Feb 1925 . Eve CUPP, b. 1835-40 . Catharine CUPP, b. 1839/40 |

8b. 1880 Census Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #12 of 31): in checking the image of the above record, it's "Adam," not "Adams," and Margaret's age could just as easily be 37 as 51 (in fact, it looks slightly more like 37 than 51). As Margaret does not appear in the 1850/60 censuses, the later birthdate would make more sense in that regard, but then, Elizabeth would have been having a child at age 51/2, which is unlikely. It would help if I could find Benjamin ELIAS in the 1860 census of York Co., but I can't, which increases the probablity that Margaret was his second wife. 9. Everything I have is online at this web site. I have no further information, so please don't write asking me if I do.
On the other hand, if you feel I've made an error, please don't hesitate to notify me, but in which case, There are over 18,000 pages on this web site, and I simply don't remember every page, much less every person on every page. |
