Sources (n.b., Lawrence Co., OH, and Massac Co., IL, are both on the north bank of the Ohio River):

1.  Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, 1763–1900 (online at the Illinois State Archives web site):
COMPTON, ELI DUNGAN, MARGARET J 1855-08-22 OMB, p. 16 Massac Co.

3a.  1860 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com, Image #8-9 of 15):  Pellona P.O., "Township 15 S R 6 East" [= T15S.R6E], Massac Co., IL, Roll, pp. 872-873, PN 76-77, 570/570, enumerated 29 Jun 1860, official enumeration date 1 Jun 1860 (extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):

I see no obvious genealogical relationship between our subject and Lavinia (BAILEY) CLARK.  I suspect Widow CLARK was simply taking in boarders to make ends meet.

4.  1870 Census Every-Name-Index/Images (online at Ancestry.com):  can't find Eli or Mary.  Margaret has remarried and is living with her second husband.

The IT guys on the big iron hated the Personal Computer because it gave users freedom and power; now they've conned you into being back under their control.
