The ten year gap between the sets of children suggests his first wife died and was replaced by a second wife.

Children with Wife-2:
For William's wife to be having children as late as ca. 1831, she cannot have been born any earlier than ca. 1788, making her at least two decades younger than he is.  Given the children appearing in the 1810 census, our subject clearly had to have had at least one prior wife.  Either that or a generation has been skipped, meaning these are grandchildren of our subject's children, possibly of a son named, William.

For reasons known only to the author, he makes our subject the son of William6, the illegitimate son of Elizabeth5 CORBIN & Samuel RIDGEWAY.  He then, in the next paragraph, contradicts himself by saying our subject is listed as a son of David CORBIN (Sr.) in 1787.   The fact is he's shown as "son of David" in the 1810 census.  Also, there is nothing in the author's sources to suggest how he attached these children to William, and a descendant of Elliott asserts he is a son of David, Jr., William's brother.  I have no idea who is correct.
