Joseph Cockrell deeded land to John Cockrell, Nash County, North Carolina 8 feb 1814. Kinfolks of Nash County, N.C. 975.647 D2n. Joseph Cockrell grantor deed Nash County, N.C. dated August 1817. Wit: Arch Cockrell and Josiah Vick. Nash County, N.C. Deeds, Vol. 7, pgs 351 and 390. Film 0417572. Joseph Cockrell witness to Nash Co., NC. deeds 1815, 1810,1812 Joseph Cockrell's will identifies his wife as "Elizabeth." Drewry Pridgen named administrator of estate, Nash County, N.C. 8 Sept 1819-"Joseph Cockrell, inventory by Drewry Pridgen, Admr, Sept 8, 819. Sale held same day with Piety Cockrell principal buyer." From the files of Kay Cockrell Kazmir of Bryan, Texas. Piety's middle name, Hilliard, given to me by Onnie Cockrell in Mar. 1996 corres. 1819 Sept 8, Nash Co., NC. Principal buyer of Joseph Cockrell's estate. 1835 Jan 29, Nash Co., NC. named in Drewry Pridgen's Will as daughter. 1838 Mar 5, Nash Co., NC. Deed Bk.17, pg.11; daughter of Drewry Pridgen. 1850 census, Nash County, N.C. pg 175. lists William cockrell and Wife Mary. and living with William Cockrell, female, age 61, is Piety Cockrell. This is William's mother. 1853 Sept 29, Nash County, N.C. Piety Cockrell deeded all of 100 acres of land to her son William Cockrell, for "her love and affection.".
