Has anyone actually documented this connection?  This couple has some notable ancestors, so the temptation to make an unwarranted connection is high.

Claims that our subject descends from Richard CLARKE, Mayflower Passenger, are not supported by any evidence — not to mention he died without issue.  Likewise, claims that he descends from Thomas CLARKE of Holton, Suffolk, are unsupported by evidence.  Our subject is, however, great-grandfather of the Abraham CLARK who signed the Declaration of Independence.
