James B. BYERS
Mary STEVENSON
Please Note:  our subject is being mixed up with the James BYERS who married Elizabeth C. LEFTER and lived in Franklin Co., IN.  These are two different men: they are both enumerated in the 1850 Census, each in a different place with a different wife and different children.  There are many reasons to always make the effort to extract all of a family's census records, but one of them is that you catch errors like this one.
Husband:  James B. BYERS
Birth:  20 Jun 1799, East Finley Twp., Washington Co., PA
Death:  18 Oct 1874, presumably in Fremont Twp., Cedar Co., IA
Disposition:  buried Bellefontaine City Cemetery, Bellefontaine, Logan Co., OH
Occupation:  farmer
Father:  Thomas Ebenezer BYERS (1757-1825)
Mother:  Margaret S. SHANNON (1768-1829)
Marriage:  3 Apr 1823, East Finley Twp., Washington Co., PA
Wife:  Mary STEVENSON
Birth:  7 Sep 1805, Washington Co., PA
Death:  25 Sep 1868, Logan Co., OH
Disposition:  buried Bellefontaine City Cemetery, Bellefontaine, Logan Co., OH
Occupation:  homemaker
Father:  Joseph STEVENSON (1779-1865)
Mother:  Sarah MARQUIS (1780-1849)
Children — born in Lake Twp., Logan Co., OH:
They lived in Lake Twp.,  not the Bellefontaine Post Office.  The Bellefontaine P.O. is where they went to pick up their mail.  There was no rural mail delivery back then, so rural residents had to drive into town to pick up their mail.  Without evidence to show this farm family lived in town, it is incorrect to claim the children were born in Bellefontaine.
