p. 553 Pages 481-481. Eliphalet Burnham was born in Hartford, Conn., son of Augustus, and in 1801 he mar in Pittstown, N.Y. Rhoda Ward who was born in Buckland, Mass.  In 1805 they came to Pomfret and settled on lot 6 where Rhoda died in 1814. Eliphalet sold his farm and bought the papermill at Laona whee he was an early and prominent member of the Baptist Church.  By his first wife he had five children: Rhoda, Horace, Louisa, Levi, and Milton.  He mar second, Belvidera Carter by whom he had nine children: Sarah, John, Mary E., Levi, William, Lydia, Emily, George, and Tertius.  Mr. Burnham rem to Union City, Pa., where he died 27 Sept. 1863, and was buried in Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown, N.Y.
