DNA Siblingship Tests — a Sample Case
The question was raised whether one of four siblings had a different father than the other three.  Siblingship tests were run between A, the child in question, and her brothers, B and C.  Then another test was run comparing A to her sister, D.  Results between A and B showed that she was 27 times more likely to be his sister, than not.  Results comparing A to C and D were deemed "inconclusive," which here means not certainly yes or no (i.e., the inconclusive results do not falsify the hypothesis of relationship).  As there is no doubt that B, C, and D are full siblings, and there is no doubt that A and B are siblings, then logically, all four must be full siblings.

Each parent provides two copies of each marker; therefore, there can be no more than four different values for any one marker among the children.  In no case, below, do the siblings collectively possess more than four different values at any one marker.  The hypothesis of siblingship is supported (i.e., not falsified) by these results.

Notes
1.  All markers are STR (short tandem repeat) tests on autosomal chromosomes, except for the amelogenin test to determine gender.
2.  CODIS = Combined DNA Index System; DNA profiling system for the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
3.  SGM(+) = Second Generation Multiplex (Plus); DNA profiling system for the UK National Criminal Intelligence DNA Database.
