Comparison of Groups from the MacAULAY Y-DNA Surname Project |
Below is a comparison of two groups from the MacAULAY
Y-DNA Surname Project at FTDNA to aid in a discussion at the R1b-YDNA
Yahoo Group (12/13 March 2015; update 21 Jun 2015; update 10 Feb 2016).
To understand how I use color in this table, please see my web page on
"Signature
Markers."
The two groups from the MacAULAY project are closely related enough
to be considered the same family in genealogical time, with the possible
exception of #327031, who needs to upgrade to 111 markers. The "family"
modal values used below are based on the combined two groups. The
sample size here is small enough that the modal values are easily swayed
by the simple happenstance of who's been tested. In particular, we
have only nine individuals tested to 111 markers, so we don't have a very
strong modal. Needless to say, it would make analysis of these results
much
easier if everyone would upgrade to 111 markers and more people were tested.
You never know where (in which Panel) a family's signature markers will appear. In this case, half of them are in Panels 1 thru 4, while the other half are in Panel 5, which demonstrates just one reason to test Panel 5. The GRANTHAM individual likely has an NPE, but it could be the biological connection with the others may be just prior to surname adoption. |

Genetic Distances are from the Family I modal values, not the R1b-P312 modal values. FTDNA SNP Path: R1b-P25/M343 > L389 > P297 > M269 > L150 > L23 > L51 > L151 > P311 > P312 > DF27 > ZZ12_1 > ZZ19_1 > FGC11369 > FGC11397 > Y17787
