*Anna CLARK is not, as often
alleged, sister of explorer William CLARK and Gen. George Rogers CLARK
(sons of John CLARK & Ann ROGERS); and her middle name is
not
"Rogers" (Roberts, 1995: 129). The source of these myths appears
to be Frederick Clifton Pierce (1901: 1104-1107). Also, Anna is said,
by Pierce (1901: 1107), to have a son, George Rogers FIELD, but no such
son is mentioned in Col. John FIELD's will, something even Pierce acknowledges.
It appears George Rogers FIELD may have been manufactured to support the
myth of Anna's parentage.
