| James WYATT
Ms. __?__ |
| Husband: James WYATT
Birth: 1797, Mecklenberg Co., NC Death: 1849, Marshall Co., KY Occupation: farmer Father: Sylvester WYATT Mother: Caroline POTTS Secondary sources refer to our subject as James M. WYATT, but I've yet to find a primary record giving him a middle initial. |
| Marriage: |
| Wife: Ms. __?__
Birth: 1797-1800 Death: 1830-40, NC or KY Occupation: homemaker |
| Children — born in Mecklenburg Co., NC: |
| 1. Hannah WYATT, b. 1822
2. Rachel Susan WYATT, b. 10/12 Oct 1823 3. Nancy M. WYATT, b. 1826; m. ca. 1844, KY, James THOMPSON (b. ca. 1824, NC) 4. Judah Elizabeth WYATT, b. 10 Sep 1828; m. J.H. THOMAS 5. Gracey Caroline WYATT, b. 1832/3; d. Scott Co., MO; m. 1845, Marshall Co., KY, William CROCKETT (b. 27 Apr 1818, TN; d. 25 Apr 1889, KY) 6. William WYATT, b. 1835 7. Thomas WYATT, b. 1838/9 |
| The complement of children ascribed to our subjects in the LDS AF
and IGI does not entirely jibe with the censuses. In particular,
the three eldest children attributed to James do not appear to be his (n.b.,
no child born before 1820 appears in any census with James). The
fact that all the children are said to be born in Rowan Co., when the censuses
clearly show the family was continuously in Mecklenburg Co., doesn't add
to the source's credibility.
. William Harrison WYATT, b. 6 Dec 1816?; d. 1837, Calloway Co.,
KY
The fact that the AF is wrong about these three make me wonder if Hannah, Nancy, and Judah are correctly attached to these parents. That is, they had daughters those ages, but were they those daughters? I am assuming Rachel is correctly ascribed to James, from which Gracie, William (b. 1835), and Thomas follow. The AF shows a William Harrison WYATT as eldest son of James M. WYATT. It has W.H. born in North Carolina, married to Susan Caroline BAZZELL, and deceased in 1837. But as shown by William & Susan's 1850 Census record, William was born in Kentucky, not North Carolina, and obviously, he did not die in 1837. William Harrison WYATT, husband of Susan Caroline BAZZELLl, is actually the son of McGilvery & Lucretia (DUNN) WYATT. |
