WARNING: I may have mixed up two different William WILLIAMS'es here. The facts do fit, and I have found no better alternative, but we still need something concrete to prove these records apply to a single William WILLIAMS. One thing I find no evidence for is the allegation that our subject had an affair with Susan STROUP prior to his relationship with, then marriage to, Elizabeth (LANTER) STROUP, though I'm not ertain what evidence one might expect to find, though it raises the question as to what basis there is for alleging the relationship. It does appear that Elizabeth (LANTER) STROUP had left George STROUP before 1850 because she is not with him in the 1850 census. Assuming I have not mixed our subject up with a different William WILLIAMS, it does appear that Elizabeth is living with William WILLIAMS in the 1850 census and that he later married her, in 1856.
