These data indicate:
No. & Sex  Age Class Therefore Born Individuals Inferred
3 males 9 or under 1810-1820 = William (b. 1817/8)
= Son B
= Son A
1 male 10-15 1804-1810 = ?
1 male 26-44 1775-1794 = James (b. 1792/3)
1 female 9 or under 1810-1820 = Daughter A
1 female 26-44 1775-1794 = Isabella (b. 1796/7)
2 persons engaged in agriculture
The teenage male is too old to be their child.  Four children in five years is unusual, but not impossible.  Listed one line below William WALLACE and five lines above Harbert WALLACE.

3a.  Census Index:  U.S. Selected Counties, 1830 (Broderbund CD-315):  Based on the birthplaces of the children, they should be in Tennessee.  The CD shows eleven James WALLACEs in TN, in Anderson, Claiborne, Jackson, Rutherford, and Sumner Cos., but none in Stewart or Montgomery Cos. (see next source).

3b.  1830 Census Index and Digital Images (online at Ancestry.com; Image #X of X; extracted by Diana Gale Matthiesen):  According to their online index, there is a James WALLACE in Stewart Co., TN (p. 44), and one in Montgomery Co., TN (p. 59).  One of these is almost certainly our James, but both of these census page images are missing from the online database (I have notified Ancestry.com of the problem as of 15 Oct 2001.)

This record is difficult to read, in general, and it's almost impossible to tell this census-takers 3's from his 5's.
