| *The county was divided into just two districts:
from 1804 to 1806, into North and South Districts; beginning in 1807, into
East and West Districts. The change tells us that William was in
the northwest quadrant of Christian County, which is confirmed by the location
of the Tradewater River. |

William Thompson who stands bound by recognizance to appear
here on this day to answer to the charge exhibited against him by Mary
Dunning for having begot upon her body a bastard child and on consideration
of the Court and for reasons appearing to Court it is ordered that prosecution
be dismissed. |
This item may apply to our subject or to the William
THOMPSON of Pond River. However, all the DUNNINGs on the tax rolls
of the county lived on the Tradewater River or on the Muddy Fork of the
Little River (the latter was then in western Christian Co. and is now in
eastern Trigg Co.), making it much more likely that the William THOMPSON
involved with Mary DUNNING was the one who lived on the Tradewater River,
not the one who lived in eastern Christian Co., on the Pond River. |
