Page torn, so the enumeration of his slaves is missing, but we know he had them from the totals.  By deduction, with 45 persons total and 21 whites, he presumably had 24 slaves, which is in keeping with the wealth shown in 1850 (see below).  Listed next to James's brother-in-law, Samuel HADLEY.
