According to their daughter, Lucy, Charles W. Thompson married Martha A.P. Padgett on October 29, 1871 in Cloverdale Township, Sonoma County, CA.  Her Father was John C. Padgett--her mother was Margaret McDonald.  Both were born in Washington Co, KY in 1821.  The were married in KY on 23 Nov 1843.  Their fist child died in infancy.  They moved into IL where 5 more children were born.  By 1870 they were living in Soquel Township, Santa Cruz Co., CA.  4 children survived, Martha being the oldest.  She married C.W. when she was only 17.  Children:    Rosetta, b. 28 Dec 1873 in Santa Clara Co., CA , d. 11 Nov 1890, buried in Dixon, CA.    Lucy b. 17 July, 1875 in Santa Clara Co., d. 16 Mar 1956 in S.F.  Never married.   Wm. Arthur, b. 16 Apr 1883, m. Mrs Nancy Armsdon Edwards on 1 Apr 1919 in Sacramento CA.,  Arthur d., 1 Mar 1954 in S.F. CA, buried in Dixon, Nancy died 11 Oct 1936 buried in Roseville.    Nora Hattie b. 1 Dec 1884, d. 27 May 1885, Tehama Co.    Charles Albert; b. 15 May 1886 Tehama Co., m. 3 Oct 1913 (1) Amalia Vergen of Bakersfield who d. 30 Dec 1914, m. 31 Jan 1920 (2) Gertrude E. Kolby of San Francisco, who d. 8 June 1931, Albert died in Oroville 1 Sept 1933.
